Messy Church

Fresh ideas for building a Christ-centered community.

Messy Church is a form of church for children and adults that involves creativity, celebration, and hospitality. It meets at a time (and in a place) that suits people who don’t already belong to a church and usually includes a welcome, craft time, Celebration (worship) and a meal.

Messy Churches usually meet monthly, but some meet more often and some less.

Not a children's church

It’s not a children’s church, nor is it to be seen as a way of growing your existing Sunday morning congregation (though this might happen).  Instead see it as a church for people at all stages of their faith journey and of any age.

Messy Church recognizes that the children are an integral part of the congregation and are both models of discipleship and disciples themselves, as are the adults.

Messy Church began in an Anglican Church in the UK. Many of the resources are designed by Anglican leaders in the UK.

"I am convinced that Messy Church is one of the new things God is up to in our world - a new way of reaching out to families who would never hear the Good News of Jesus through conventional church."

Dr. John Bowen, former Professor of Evangelism, Wycliffe College, Toronto.
